Environmental Justice

Carol recognizes that we can't speak on climate justice without talking about environmental racism. The Covanta incinerator located in Chester City affects everyone in the 159th, but disproportionately affects poor communities of color. The incinerator is one of the leading causes of air pollution and asthma in City of Chester and the surrounding communities such as Trainer.

Carol believes it's time to fight back and cap the number of states that bring in trash to our district and progress to zero waste. We deserve access to clean air, clean water, and a clean environment.

“The climate crisis is now viewed as an existential threat that is directly linked to economic and racial justice.”
— Dr. Ted Landsmark, American Educator and Attorney
